About the Quaker

Why folks choose the Quaker.

Our Quaker shed features a distinctive front overhang that shelters the entrance from rain and snow while adding architectural interest. This classic Pennsylvania Dutch-inspired design has been a regional favorite for generations.

The asymmetrical roofline creates varied wall heights—shorter in front, taller in back—allowing rain to shed away from the door. Inside, you'll find the same quality construction and practical storage as our other shed models, wrapped in a style that stands apart.

Quaker questions

What buyers ask about the Quaker.

Sizing, door clearance, delivery, permits — the stuff that comes up when folks are deciding on a quaker. If your question isn’t here, give us a call or text.

How is the Quaker different from the Classic Quaker?

Same silhouette — same offset peak with the deep front overhang — but the Classic Quaker adds our premium trim package: 1×6 Miratec fascia, 1×3 corner trim, wider gable overhangs, and Classic vents. Functionally identical buildings; visually the Classic Quaker reads more like a permanent outbuilding than a shed. Most buyers placing the building in the back of the property pick the Quaker. Buyers placing it where it’s visible from the street or driveway typically step up to Classic.

How deep is the Quaker’s front overhang?

Roughly 24–30" of overhang depending on size, which is enough to cover the doorway during a quick rain and keep mud off the threshold but not enough to stand under like a covered porch. Customers who want a usable sheltered space (kayak rack, firewood, a bench) typically size up to 12×16 or larger so the overhang scales proportionally. The overhang is also the reason this model handles snow load well — water doesn’t pool against the front wall.

What’s the most popular Quaker size?

10×16 (starting at $4,410 in LP SmartSide) is the runaway favorite — the offset peak gives the front facade a tall, presentable look that doesn’t feel like a basic storage box, and the footprint fits a riding mower with workbench space behind it. Front-of-property buyers often go 10×12 to keep it tighter; tradesperson buyers go 12×20 or larger for tools-plus-truck-bed-cargo storage.

Will a riding lawn mower fit through Quaker doors?

Yes — standard Quaker doors are a 6-foot-wide double-door opening that handles every consumer-grade lawn tractor (John Deere E-series, Cub Cadet XT-series, Husqvarna YTH) plus most zero-turns up to a 48" deck. For commercial mowers, compact tractors with attachments, or Kubota BX-series, send us the deck width and we’ll spec a 7-foot or 8-foot opening at no upcharge on most sizes.

Is the Quaker delivered fully assembled?

Yes — every Quaker through 12×40 is built fully assembled at our Parkesburg, PA shop and delivered on a low-profile mule trailer. The front overhang adds about 2 feet to the overall transit length vs. an A-Frame Workshop, which is worth flagging if your driveway has a tight turn at the end. We need roughly 12 feet of clearance width on your access path — mention any pinch points on your quote and we’ll work out the route.

Do I need a permit for a Quaker?

It depends on the size and your township. Most municipalities in PA, NJ, DE, and MD allow accessory structures under 200 sq ft (10×20 or smaller) without a permit, though setbacks from property lines still apply. A 12×24 or larger Quaker usually needs a zoning permit. The offset peak roof can also occasionally trip an HOA architectural review even when the township doesn’t require a permit — worth a quick call to both before ordering.

Fast Delivery

Ordered a 10×16 Quaker on a Tuesday, delivered the following Monday. Crew was professional and the shed looks better in person than in the photos.

Value

My Classic shed was $2,000 less than a similar model at the big-box store — and it’s built ten times better. LP SmartSide, real 2×4 framing, architectural shingles. No comparison.

You can tell this is Amish-built the moment you walk inside. Framing, floor, trim — everything is straight and square. Worth every penny.
