Yes — this is the #1 use case for this model. The tall A-Frame sidewalls (8’8") give you full stud bays for R-13 batt insulation, and the wide gable overhangs help with rain shedding around any windows you cut in. Most office-conversion customers go 12×16 or 12×20, add 2–3 sidewall windows, a 36" pre-hung exterior door, and have an electrician trench a 60–80 amp subpanel from the house. Plan on $6K–$12K total for a finished interior (drywall, flooring, electrical, mini-split HVAC) on top of the building cost.

12×20 (starting at $6,505 in LP SmartSide) is the office/studio sweet spot — it’s big enough for a desk, a small couch, and a separate work zone without feeling cramped. 12×16 ($5,885) works for a single-purpose office. For two distinct zones (e.g., office + Peloton, studio + storage), customers usually step up to 14×20 or 14×24.

Yes — spec your window placement on the contact form and we’ll frame the openings before delivery. Most customers go with 2 or 3 standard 24×36" or 30×40" double-pane vinyl windows on the long sidewalls plus a transom or two on the gable end if they want morning light. We can also frame in a sliding glass door or French doors for buyers who want indoor/outdoor flow. Cutting windows after delivery is technically possible but adds cost and risks the warranty — always better to spec at order time.

Yes through 12×40 — every Classic Workshop in that range is built fully assembled at our Parkesburg, PA shop and rolled in on a low-profile mule trailer. The 14-wide Classic Workshops (14×16 through 14×48) ship as panelized kits and are assembled on-site over 1–2 days because they exceed legal road-transport width. On-site assembly carries a 30% upcharge.

Yes — the moment you add electrical, insulation, plumbing, or use the building as habitable space, most townships in PA, NJ, DE, and MD require a residential building permit and inspection regardless of square footage. The Classic Workshop is the model where this comes up most often because most buyers do convert it. Talk to your township zoning office before ordering, and if you’re running a business from the building, ask specifically about home-occupation rules — some municipalities count detached buildings as separate from your home for occupational permitting.
